  1. I have never been to such a beautiful park, and I had no idea it was so close to where I lived. The weather was beautiful and it wasn’t packed either. The trail near the lake was even better.
People came to fish, walk their dogs, and some to just enjoy the trail. My favorite activity was skipping rocks on the lake. We plan to go back very soon.

  2. Overall, a nice area for your fur baby. As of right now, the area for the bigger pups is closed for construction so it was a bit chaotic having the smaller dogs and the bigger dogs all in one area. The area is well maintained and the place is very nice.

  3. I truly appreciate our city for preserving this park for generations to enjoy. Love the uniqueness of the flora diversity, so many native plants that Ive not come across in other Bexar County parks. Been a while since I came to this park, I was shocked to see the water level today compared to a few years back! We need to start addressing the seriousness of the drought of 2022. Pictured 9/23/2018 vs today 9/10/2022 this is an incredible difference!

  4. A nice hidden gem in town. the park features a playground, dog park, picnic tables, softball field, and a running trail around a nice fishing lake. this park only lacks better lighting at night, especially around the running trail for safety.

  5. Great hill top park. Nice for roller skating and open area for kites, on-site baseball field. When you walk toward the dog park. Follow that trail to covered area. It has a small pond and gorgeous animals on a circle trail. So much fun!

My partner and I absolutely love coming to McAllister dog Park! Every time we go our big old dork of a girl comes home happy and worn out. The people there are friendly and the park is generally pretty clean. Sometimes people don’t pick up their dogs leaving, but it’s rare to find one. There’s usually quite a few balls around for the dogs to play with. We’ve not so far had any negative encounters with the other dogs. Often it’s our dofus that gets a bit carried away because she doesn’t realize how big she is. We enjoy coming out Saturday mornings to let her run around and burn off some energy. We usually park over by the large field so we can take a walk around the outer edge to get what rambunctious energy she has left out before we load her in the car to go home.

I love this park for my doggo. I recently got my pup and have heard horror stories from dog parks and how they can ruin socialization if other dog parents are not responsible. I have not had any issues, everyone is very kind and so are the doggies! For the most part all pet parents seem to be watchful and attentive if their fur children get a little to excited. The only reason not 5 stars is because the poop pickup could be a smidge better 🙂 love it here tho!

Our favorite park for our pups 🐶 in the SA area. It has a large open space so dogs don’t get crowded and the owners that frequent here are usually chill and knowledgeable of many breeds. Some new faces don’t understand the culture here so their dogs usually get to nipping and stirring up the other dogs but the usuals are good at letting them know what to do.

Great dog park with very friendly community. I bring my dog here who needs socialization work. I was worried people were not going to like me bringing my aggressive dog, but people are always happy to to help me. I always take great caution and use a muzzle so my dog cannot injure another dog. Over the last 6 months my dog has made great progress thanks to the help from the people here. Now my dog loves to go and watch the. other dogs run around. I usually take my dog in the small dog area which nobody seems to use.

Usually I’m afraid to let my dogs run off leash but I haven’t issues at this park. Every time we go I meet nice people. The baggies are always stocked and the doggy fountains are great. Can’t think of any cons yet… the little dog run is great for puppies or scared dogs.

A great place to take your dog to play with other dogs. Have been several times and always several dogs for my dog to play with. There is a small dog area and all dog area. The small dog area is usually pretty empty but good for very small dogs. The all dog area is big and has enough room for many dogs to run around. The only thing is that the area can get very dusty when there are many dogs running around. We also love to go on the trail behind the park as well. Paved and has many picnic tables along the route.

Great dog area! Benches for sitting. Access to water fountain for people and dogs. Nicely sized with open spaces and trees. People I’ve encountered here (I usually go in the mornings) are polite and easy to be around, and the dog vibe is very chill even when there are 20+ dogs!

Good size. Has two different sections for big and small dogs. Will hopefully be busy the next time we stop by!

The park is a good size. Rarely it becomes a bit unattended, only when they bring in new mulch. And usually takes them a while to spread it out so the dogs do it really dirty as well as everyone else who is in the just cloud. Dog owners are very good about picking up after their pets. To have two sections one for smaller dogs and one for bigger dogs. The section for smaller dogs always seems to be empty. The sectional with the bigger dogs seems to always be packed. Most people come in after 4:30. Sometimes it gets a little bit overwhelming especially nowadays with the. Most people don’t wear a mask. There are water trays available in a water fountain for dogs. There’s many balls scattered around as well as random toys. Parking can be a bit scarce since many people do come for the trails. Overall it’s a good park for the dogs.

It’s great before 530 at night. Less aggressive animals and more attentive owners during the earlier hours.
