  1. My favorite park ever. Or at least in Kentucky! My dogs and I have so much fun doing all of the hidden trails throughout Cherokee in the wooded areas. You can mountain bike on the trails, too! Dogs swimming in creeks and plenty of fresh air.

  2. Gorgeous park with tons of natural area! If I lived here, I’d be here all the time. Friendly folks in the park and lots of paths to walk. I love parks that keep the natural environment of the land and they’ve done a remarkable job here.

  3. Drove through Louisville on our way to Nashville with the pup. Needed a place to stretch our legs. Found this park on the map & gave it a shot, was SO impressed!! A local told us the park’s architect was the same person who designed Central Park in NYC. It felt safe, was populated, & had tons of fun trails covered in shade to help with the hot summer sun. 100% would recommend!!!

  4. Absolutely gorgeous park in the fall, leaves are turning. It’s quiet. Everybody there, the cyclists, mountain bikers and runners are very courteous to each other.

  5. Im a nature lover and found this park out of blue. Liked the curly and hilly roads surrounding it. Very peaceful. Loved the cute and unique houses on the hills. Saw four deers crossing the road from the front yard of the house. Love the scene!

This is our dog’s absolute favorite place to go and we go every weekend. We started taking him as a puppy when he got all his shots. It’s a fantastic place to take your dog for them to socialize. It is volunteer-run, so everyone is encouraged to contribute. The volunteer that does most of the care is Alan. He’s very friendly and does an amazing job keeping the park organized and clean. Ziggy makes friends almost every time we go. He loves it! There’s also a playground connected to it so you can watch your kiddos and your doggos.

I’ve been traveling overland for 6 months with my dog and have seen about 50 dog parks. This one is special, it’s more of a people and dog park. It’s very nicely maintained by volunteers on land provided by the adjacent school. It’s maybe a little less thank an acre, flat, and with cedar chips, which I prefer over dirt, grass, cement and astroturf found at most parks. The terrain is flat. There are at least 100 chairs and many trees, a very relaxed and friendly vibe among dogs and people, and it’s free without the requirements for membership. It’s also in a nice location to other venues with outdoor seating and dog friendly. A great design feature is a small playground for children built into a corner of the space so a family could at the same time have their dogs and children play separately. I always worry about kids being at a dog park, as they need to play, too, but not with dogs. In short, one of the best parks I’ve seen, especially for an urban environment.

I had been here years ago with my previous dog and remembered how well it was kept and that it was community-run. Fast-forward to now and I take my dogs to another park that is closed on Mondays. My dogs do not understand the word “closed” so they still expected park time, not walk on the city streets time. I remembered Morton Ave Dog Park and brought them here. THEY LOVED IT!!! New smells, new friends, newer things around the park, it was perfect! Highly recommend!

This is my favorite place to take our loving lil blue nose bully…. Her name is Layla Dawn and she has so much fun while at the park… It’s the only place we found that our dog is free to be herself she doesn’t have to be fixed and why would we want to fix her anyways just to take her to some stuck up dog bar like the ones down the road… Our Layla has been going there since she was a small pup… Now we did have to give her a break from the place for a while cause she caught kennel cough… But it was a time that we took her up there and there was only one dog with it’s owner up there and she had played with one of the toys… The place doesn’t have paid workers… So it depends on volunteers to keep it clean and in order… My girlfriend and I decided we were going to start volunteering at night when the park is closed to disinfect the toys…. But all in all the is a pet and people friendly place to go.

The dog park here is maintained by grounds staff reasonably well. The large dog park is a bit small compared to Tom Sawyer and others in the area but still a good place to let the dogs run around. You will need to fill out an application with feeders supply and show proof of vaccinations to become a member. The dues for membership are yearly but relatively inexpensive.

Lots of room and almost all the dogs (and owners) there are well mannered. 🙂 Three fenced areas are helpful. If you have a small dog or an unruly pet there will be a place to let your beast run.

In the winter the ground can worn down to the dirt, but once spring comes, it’s my favorite out of all of them. There are tubs of water for dogs to cool off in, and tons of tennis balls available, and large (sone some areas shaded) areas for plenty of running and ball throwing. Three fenced off areas available, small dogs, all dogs and one for dogs that may need more private space as the adjust to being at the park.

Kinda smelly! The grass isn’t as well maintained as some other dog parks. It’s rather gross to walk around in large areas of grass that bunches of dogs are constantly peeing!

Our dog Harley is a member of the Cochran Hill Dog Club. Members are allowed to bring guests and she frequently brings us with her for visits to romp with her Buddies. They have a big dog and a little dog side and sometimes the difference is based on personality not height or weight. They also have a third area which I believe is for dogs who are having a difficult time being polite with others. There’s a picnic bench and a gazebo and a couple of scattered park benches for guests to rest on. Lots of room for running. There’s even a hose and washing station as well as a couple of wading pools that members can splash around in. I’d suggest bringing a towel and shampoo in case your dog enjoys the water and your car doesn’t want to get too trashed. Great dogs here, only occasionally do you find an aggressive member and the guests they bring with them seems eager to help out when there’s a problem with a member’s temperament.
