- Reviews:We brought our SUV in for an alignment and were called about an hour later to be told there was extensive work needed before any alignment could be completed. Apparently, both lower control arms, brakes, all 4 tires (due to separation) and struts needed replacing before any work could commence. This was news to us as our regular mechanic and shop have both seen our car in the last 6 months and one of the tires was less than 2 years old. We asked for clarification and the answer was vague and the same for all issues. We prefer to take any repairs to our regular guy and were not feeling very confident in the experience, so we left with the car and were not charged for anything which was appreciated. Upon our own inspection at the next errand, there was one tire that was visibly separating and we did go and replace it immediately. Once the new tire was on the vibrating we brought it in for resolved completely and even the alignment was improved though still needs to be done. We brought it to our mechanic to have the other problems looked at and there were no signs of separation in any of the remaining tires, the lower control arms were fine, and while the struts were original to the car, they were not currently in need of replacing either. Even the brakes were not nearly as bad as suggested. The only issue he could find was that the other driver front tire had some uneven wear due to the separating tire on the other side, so we will be replacing that. No mention of uneven wear at the appointment nor how particularly bad the passenger tire was.. just that all tires needed replacing. I have to say that I was left with quite an unsavoury impression after getting a second opinion from our mechanic. I understand that its not unusual for places to try and upsell but this is really excessive. We chose the shop because my husband’s company has a discount with Kal-Tire but honestly at this point we would not return nor recommend them to anyone. There are lots of great reviews online, so I was surprised that we had the issues we did. I’m glad we didn’t approve the repairs blindly and certainly hope this was a one-off incident for the sake of others who may take their advice at face value.By Jenn Kivisto (4 months ago)Their warranty on tires for road hazards saved me a lot of money with all the lovely Thunder Bay potholes we have. The staff also recommended me about the other issue my car had: wrong direction of wheels. The price was reasonable: 40$/changing four wheels. Flyer was wrong spoked with a manager who said I can have the unit at the price listed and correct the flyer. Paid for the item was asked to pick up later that day got a phone call to pick up went to get it and same manager denied having said I could have the item at the price listed and voided my transaction and said the misinformation has now been corrected. Wife tried to argue the issue but security guards came she felt threatened and left. Manager said “would you correct the issue if you were me would you let it go at that low of a price” um no but I would also honor what I agreed to in the first place not change my mind. Horrible place! Dirty bathrooms no one knows anything there and the manager was rude and did not honor his commitment!!!!
Disappointed in the customer service at this location time and time again. I’ve actively avoided this store as there seems to be zero urgency or effort, whether that be seeking an item’s location or simply customer “right of way”. When seeking assistance, I’ve been met with the response “I don’t know” or “Must be sold out” without any effort to direct or assist – and worse, speaking over the customer. Waste of time and unwelcoming. Typically leave the shop without products out of frustration.
Older lady working at customer service seemed extremely annoyed I asked for a raincheck on a sale item. Staff working in garden center were extremely helpful and friendly though.
Found what I needed online before going, can see the aisle number if they have it in stock. Regular customer and get home and garden supplies here. Also went when I needed plumbing repair parts
So.. the customer service lady was trying to be super helpful helping me get an item that was in the back warehouse (in stock but not on the shelf) but it took ages for her to find someone to actually get it. That’s after a shelf stocking lady in automotive told me to go find an automotive parts guy (who was busy elsewhere and not to be found).
Inconsistent quality in service I guess.
