- Reviews:Great spot to bring your dog to socialize. Made some local friends by bringing my pup here, and she made some friends too! The park can be a bit rough and tumble, but hey, that’s life. Owners are generally respectful and mindful to not bring kids who don’t know how to interact with groups of dogs. I have yet to donate (next pay check), but I’d love for there to be a heat lamp and new lights for winter. Everyone gets out of work at 5 and loves to bring their dogs then, but darkness at 4:30 and the cold have prevented that this year. There is a doggy water fountain that is easy to use. The entrance also has an enclosed leashing/unleashing area. The dog walkers bring multiple dogs per walker and don’t watch them. I saw one bring in a little puppy who was getting humped and pinned into corners left and right. Another walker dropped 5 dogs off and went to get a coffee (I’m sure he worked out with another dog walker to “watch” his set, but still). If I were paying a walker to walk my dog, and they just dumped them off here, I wouldn’t be happy. If your dig loves to play this is always crowded with various sized dogs to play with. Attached is a smaller dog park for those shy or cranky dogs to play but you may have to wait your turn. Pro: clean, fully fenced, taken care of, many dogs Con: I definitely got lost trying to find the dog park because the GPS took me to a dead end street so just keep that in mind if you’re coming here with a GPS location. We arrived early in the morning so parking was easy. The off leash area is actually a small wood-barked enclosure however before 9am the dogs were using the larger grassed area. This is a fully fenced area and in great condition. The ranger arrived promptly at 9am so the few people there leashed up their dogs and left. Apparently the ranger checks if you are a local resident or not. It wasn’t crowded and the people there were friendly. The on-leash area is much bigger with lots of grass and trees around it. Or really two: there’s a smaller enclosed area that is great for small dogs, dog walkers and those whose dogs mainly want to play with other dogs and a huge grassy area, formerly a ball field, for dogs like our ball-obsessed hound that wqant to run and chase. Plenty of parking although much of it on dirt so wear boots on a rainy day, and bring a towel. Very important: you need a City of Newton license to play here, which out of downers can obtain for $100 per year. It is rarely but occasionally enforced.By L Hanna (5 years ago)Okay park. The actual enclosed area is quite small. The ranger is always there to enforce that each dog has an “off leash newton permit.” The fee yearly for this is $70. Which is insane! Especially during the pandemic, and the town continues to increase their permit prices. On top of the original dog license you need for the town. Anyways, the ranger kicked us out until I applied for the permit. This little park is a good choice if you just wanna get your dogs off leash for a bit. It’s super central and easy to get to and most of the dogs there are pretty friendly as well as the people! And it’s tree lined and very pretty during the fall, even though it’s in an industrial park. It’s a little worn down, but only because of being well used and loved.
I love this dog part. I always meet awesome people and awesome dogs.

This place is great. It’s big; nice and long so you can throw a ball far in one direction. There are benches. There are several obstacles and things the dogs can jump on. There are water sources and bowls for water too. There are a couple random toys. The people here have always been pleasant. Everyone should pick up after their animals.
Decent dog park with shade, water fountains, and bowls for water. My dog had a good time running around in the decently large area.

Dogs love it there because there’s lots of space for them to run, play and socialize with each other. The people there are a bit shy at first, but quickly open up and chit-chat with you when you strike a conversation with them.
Once you become a regular, the people and especially the dogs welcome and greet you enthusiastically.
There are two water fountains for dogs and humans at each end of the park. The trees are finally growing out, so along with the gazebo there’s shade from the sun and cover from the rain. There’s usually plenty of baggies in case you forgot yours for picking after your doggie. And there are usually plenty balls for your beloved pooch to fetch and play catch.
Plenty of on-street parking makes this perhaps the most convenient dog park in Somerville.
