Very nice community feel, you can tell that the local neighborhood residents shows up here and mingle. Very clean. Looks like there is probably a splash pad that is shut down for the winter. We came here after discovering Pease park was under construction. Very pleased with our choice. It’s more of a park than a playground. There’s a lot of room to walk around or sit and throw a ball or frisbee or have a picnic. Fenced in area and off leash, also the rest of the park is dog friendly but on leash. There is a water spigot near the north end of the fenced in area for dogs, and plenty of bowls left by other folks. Like the name says, you can have your pets off the leash. Your pets can socialize with other pups too. It’s usually not that crowded and can explore the area as much as you like. It is about 5 minutes away from my house and I’ve been trying to take my pup once a day, for the last couple of months. She loves making new friends and everyone has been super friendly in the years I’ve been coming. There are a couple of holes in the fence, so beware if your pup likes to take off. There are part with some standing water where the adventurous pups can cool off. I wouldn’t recommend coming here after dark as it is super dark. The only thing I hate about it is that they don’t pick up the trash enough. I wish they would empty out the cans more often!By Pati M (2 years ago)My dogs LOVE this park. Great place for them to run. My favorite things: 1. It is fenced in. Though there are a number fence gaps to be aware of if you have a dog that’s constantly testing a perimeter. 2. There are multiple water crossings for them to cool off in. This a must for my dogs when the temperature starts to climb. Though I definitely hose them off before they can come back in the house. 3. Trash cans to disposed of waste are stationed at multiple points along the trail. 4. Off leash!! Be aware that there is poison ivy when that’s in season. I take my dog here regularly. Good fenced place in the heart of Austin for your dog to play. Might get crowded on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Best between 3-5PM to unwind and get your dog some exercise.
My daughter asked me to go with her to take her dogs. The 🐕 dogs look so happy to play with other dogs here. I didn’t know how much they enjoyed it. So many types of dogs but very friendly. The owners sit and chat while keeping an eye out for their fur babies. Good environment for both humans and dogs . The only thing I didn’t like is so much dirt they kick up when playing. They also have different gated areas for you to choose from. They have dog bags and water for them. Nice 👍
This is an amazing park so long as you have a dog that listens to you. Its fully fenced in and the people are all wonderful. Its a great location in the middle of downtown. The only issue is with so many dogs fights do break out so you need to have full control of your dog if that does happen.
This park is just ok. It’s noisy (from the freeway), has wood chip mulch (bad quality one) 1/3 of the area *(that is not great for doggie paws and can cut them), its not really taken care of at all. For an expensive city to live in like ATX not taking care of their parks is a disgrace of the city officials. Unfortunatelly 3 stars, Its not worth more then that in this current state.
Great – with one major flaw: the fence in the back, in the area close to the highway, is LOW! It’s probably around 40″ tall. For most dogs that isn’t an issue, but if your dog is like mine, who can easily jump over a 4’ fence, this is a extremely dangerous. I have 3 dogs, one is a Treeing Walker Coonhound. The height of the fence throughout this dog run is fine. I mean, if my dog is extremely motivated by the sight of another animal he might scale even the taller fence, but under normal circumstances he won’t. But the area close to the highway is so low, he could just leap over it in seconds – and get run over by the speeding cars. Upon seeing this, I had to keep him on the leash throughout the time we were there. It’s just too dangerous to let him off leash. I don’t understand why this park can’t ensure a tall fence throughout. The low area is fairly short and would not cost a lot to repair. But it makes the entire park dangerous for dogs like mine. But for this issue, we would love to take him there on a regular basis since it’s very spacious, there are lots of areas for him to run around, and there are plenty of dogs there right up his alley. Bummer!
