Plenty of places to sit to watch your dog(s) run around, or a lot of people walk the perimeter too. Kind of a small parking lot and not much overflow parking. There is a small portable restroom. I took my one year old puppy who is a German shepherd, and he was excited to run free like he did. I only had one issue when my dog ran into an open part three dogs ganged up on him, and the owner didn’t try to stop them. My dog was fine, but we left. It scares me to take him to any dog park due to him still shy with other dogs. Per the city & county regulations, dog owners need to register their dogs, submitting their vaccination records, and obtain a permit before coming to the dog park. However, the majority of owners who bring their dogs don’t have the dog park permit. Since Christmas, there has been an increase in bigger dogs in the small dog only area, dogs attacking other dogs in both areas, and just this past week, a dog owner attacked a service dog in training. We can’t put our dog at risk. Before the recent issues, we enjoyed bringing our dog here and loved that they separated the little dogs from the big dogs. They offer a good amount of climbs and drops but it is meant more for summer riding as the trails get muddy easily.By India MacGregor (3 months ago)If you can block out the noise from the expressway next to the park, it’s a gorgeous bit of land, with tons of flowers for pollinators in the warm months. There’s a fenced dog park and walking and mountain bike trails, and a few courts to play ball. The children’s playground has great climbers and a generous sand pit (with a digger and a sand table). The pavilion is a great side to rent for parties. Especially kids parties as it’s right near the playground. And yes, there are restrooms! I believe they are those composting types. I go to Swift Run Dog Park very often so I thought this dog park would be similar. But it’s a lot smaller and my dog was bored. However, the playground and pavilion are very near me and my husband and daughter enjoyed fishing at the pond. I am more traumatized than my dog. I thought I was going to lose him. Nature’s beauty at its best! This park is lovely for a walk, bike ride, jogging or simply enjoy sunshine! I went in early December and it was such an amazing experience to soak in sun and cool weather during my walk! It is really well maintained and offers many beautiful views of the Huron river along the way. These spots are best seen from the Geddes road entrance.
It’s a great place to visit with a variety of activities for everyone. There’s a little playground for kids, plenty of trails for nature lovers, and there’s even a kayak/canoe rental place. They also hold fun cultural events. It’s really popular during the summer, so I recommend going early if you can. Highly recommend!
This is such a beautiful park located close to the heart of Ann Arbor. The numerous trails are easy going and provide a perfect place for everyone. Whether you’re looking to take a nice walk, bike around, take the kids to the playground, go for a run or anything else, I’d highly recommend Gallup Park. The B2B trail is a great paved trail that provides numerous views of the Huron River. You’re also likely to run into a plethora of birds, such as geese, swans, ducks, robins, and much more! This, along with a numerous amount of other animals will accompany you during your visit. Take some time out, settle your mind, and enjoy the outdoors.
We did kayaking for the first time ever. The staff are friendly. It was a 3 hour ride and fairly priced. It was exhausting and the muscle work was incredible. The scenery and the quiet were so invogorating. The sun was super hot and now got a zebra tan lol. Put your hands and feet in the water and enjoy the coldness. Lots of insects. But can’t do anything about that, you are inside nature after all. Though quickly done, the rapids are the best part. Definitely recommended but wait for the heat so subdue a bit.
A great place to visit any time of year. Lots of variety and a great paved looping trail that goes on both sides of the Huron River. Further along there is a boardwalk through the woods and dirt trails in a wooded and marshy area that can be muddy. A fun kids playground and different sculptures around the park. Good parking in different areas depending on where you want to start.
