- Reviews:This park gets packed with dogs but the small dog area is not to bad. I would have to say in the large dog park area there was some pretty aggressive dogs but it seems like no one really mind itThe water fountains for the dogs need to get fixed and more trash cans. Has a good amount of shade which is great and It is an amount of grass. It really grinds my gears when there’s a lot of dirt because the dog because very dusty and also Muddy.By nick GERARDO (a year ago)Nice park and playground. Not much shade in summer, but the skate park is huge and fun even on foot. Nice covered picnic shelters.By allissa bunner (6 months ago)Had never seen the previous version of this park, but visited the new edition for the first time today. My kids absolutely loved the playground, which is massive. Unfortunately, it has no shade at all by 11am. But we will remember that for next time and adjust time or sunblock accordingly. This park also hosts one of the largest skate parks I’ve ever seen. It was packed today with skaters, bikes, scooters, etc. of all ability levels. Would definitely visit again.By Ted Z. (a year ago)We had a work cook out and the shelter area was awesome. Used the grills, you have to bring your own propane but that’s expected. Great play are for kids close by and bathrooms were open till 7pm . Skate park and trails available.By ginger norris (8 months ago)Nice park. Very clean and has tennis courts, skate park and even a grilling area. I brought my dog here and didn’t like it very much for him. the big dogs and the small dogs aren’t separated, and it leaves room for smaller dogs to get bullied and i seen multiple owners not watching their pets. Besides that it was cool.By Robicv (2 months ago)

- Reviews:Grass is pretty much gone, but well maintained with bags and trash bins. Loved the water stand that drains. The owners we encountered were very respectful and easy going.By J. Massie (a year ago)I came here for the first time and my dog was instantly attacked by 10-12 dogs. Had to physically carry my dog out of the park while other dogs were jumping up and trying to continue to attack him. A 60 pound dog mind you. A couple owners apologized and said their dogs didn’t do well with others or puppies. Apparently it’s common for the misbehaved dogs to be at Red wing. I have never heard anything good about this place. For the love of your dog please do not bring them here.By Rheagan Oldfield (2 months ago)Love the park, but there is too much mud after rain on one section because there is a big hole at the fence. I would also suggest to separate the 2 areas by dog size like they do at Bayview dog park.By Helen Hash (a month ago)Decent size dog park with two separate gated areas for different size dogs. Usually pretty respectful owners, but during my last visit, there was a lot of unpicked up dog waste so it was rather stinky. A lot of parking, walking in area, bathrooms with running water. Worth the visit, but needed a little upkeep.By kristin w (a year ago)Great experience for dogs to learn to socialize. The space is separated into two sections, one is always filled with friendly dogs (you can let them roam free) and the other one is an open space for those in training. There is water station and other parts of the park where you can walk your dog alone. Bring your leash at all times.By Mayra Garcia Gutarra (8 months ago)

Thank you for reading! If you have any additional information on the best Dog Parks in Virginia Beach VA, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you!
It is a large and lovely park — it can see why it is highly rated! Various events take place at Red Wing Park, and I just so happened to visit during the Cherry Blossom Festival — usually, the event is “bigger”, but since COVID, it has been downscaled…the hope is that next year, it can have dancers and people on stage and the like! At any rate, the volunteers were very warm and friendly, and also very informative! There were free arts and crafts kits for people and tea sipping, and people practicing martial arts and wearing kimonos…the flowers are really pretty, especially the Yoshino cherry trees!
The park itself is very spacious, with a basketball court and other courts for playing, some hiking areas near the entrance, from what I observed, and multiple playgrounds for kids. I’d like to explore it further, outside of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
I visited Red Wing Park for a Family Reunion. Great park! Shelters with grills are available, a playground for those with children, grassy areas for outdoor activities, nice views… overall my experience was pleasant. My only complaint…THE WOMEN’S BATHROOM AT THE BACK OF THE PARK NEAR THE SHELTERS WAS ATROCIOUS!! Only 1 of the stalls was bearable to use and the whole bathroom needed a deep cleaning.
I wish I could give it 10 stars. This park was more than I was expecting.Honestly there is so much to do and so much room. There is the Beautiful Japanese Garden, And the walking trails are absolutely gorgeous. Nice shaded walk. There are plenty of Picnic Sheltered with grills provided, A huge dog park and the Beautiful two rows of trees that look like something out of a movie.
Came out to the Cherry Blossom Festival today and the weather was absolutely perfect. Warm breeze, fresh air, petals blowing around in the air, it felt like a perfect day today. I took so many pictures. The park is a pretty ok size. It’s about 3/4 of a mile long. There is plenty of roaming space for dogs ^_^ the park is pet friendly, although specifically for the Japanese garden there are no pets and bikes allowed 😅 The park was very clean and well organized and and the vegetation and park itself looked very well maintained ^_^
There is a tennis court and a hand ball court… very large children’s jungle gym area… multiple spots to play cornhole… good distance for walking… there’s a couple of fields they use for parking or just open space when events aren’t going on… there’s a beautiful walkway of cherry blossom trees that extends about the length of a quarter of a mile long ^_^ it was absolutely beautiful.
For the misleading size of this park, there is a good bit to do and it’s a great park to go to! Also not far from the Boardwalk either, only a couple miles from the boardwalk in Virginia Beach ^_^
The park is beautiful and it’s a great place to stroll around for free. I wouldn’t really call it hiking, but it’s got some very scenic walks through the woods. They have 2 playgrounds I believe(didn’t bring kids but they looked nice).
